A 66-year-old man was sentenced Monday in Macomb County for criminal sexual conduct with two children, officials announced Tuesday.

Last month, a Macomb County jury convicted Dennis Peterson Sr. on multiple felony charges after the Prosecutor's Office tried him in two cases combined into one trial.

The assaults occurred between 2010-16 and 2012-16 in Chesterfield Township, according to prosecutors.

Two charges in the second case state Peterson is related to the victim, a child younger than 13. For those charges, he was sentenced to serve between 9 and 15 years, officials said Tuesday.

Peterson also was sentenced to 25-30 years for multiple charges of first degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 13 and defendant over 17.

His sentences are to be served concurrently, according to Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido's office.

"This sentence underscores a fundamental truth: actions have consequences," Lucido said in a statement Tuesday. "In the face of numerous counts of criminal sexual conduct, justice demands accountability. This verdict sends a clear message that such violations will not be tolerated in our society."

Peterson's attorney, Nicole Blank Becker, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
