A man accused of pointing a rifle at a Detroit resident and a 4-year-old before a police standoff last weekend has been charged.

Mark Denis Grzybowski, 63, of Dearborn Heights, was arraigned Monday in 20th District Court on a count of carrying a weapon with unlawful intent, a count of using a pneumatic gun during a felony, and two counts of misdemeanor assault, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said.

A judge set Grzybowski's bond at $50,000 and ordered him to wear a GPS tether if released, the office said. The judge also scheduled his next hearing for May 8.

If convicted, he faces up to five years for the weapons charge and up to two years for the felony firearm charge. The misdemeanor assault charges are each punishable by up to 93 days in jail.

Grzybowski

Authorities accuse Grzybowski of pointing a pneumatic rifle at a 31-year-old Detroit man and the man's 4-year-old son at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The victims were performing yard work at a residence near Grzybowski's home when the defendant allegedly pointed a rifle at them, police said Monday.

Prosecutors said the alleged assault happened in the 24000 block of Eton Avenue near Telegraph Road and Annapolis Street in Dearborn Heights.

Grzybowski then barricaded himself in his home for four hours before surrendering to officers, investigators said. No injuries were reported.

Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
