Stormy Daniels postpones stripping in Detroit
Detroit — For the second time in a month, Stormy Daniels has postponed a performance in Detroit.
Daniels, who said she had sex with President Donald Trump in 2006, was scheduled to be at the Truth strip club on Wednesday.
The appearance was canceled at the last minute because Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, couldn’t arrive before 5 p.m. to get a city cabaret license to perform in Detroit, a club spokesman said.
The performance has been rescheduled for April 18, the club said.
She was originally supposed to perform March 14 but had to cancel it because of strep throat.
Daniels is traveling across the country as part of a national tour that followed the notoriety over her alleged presidential entanglement. Trump denies that it happened.
Clifford filed a lawsuit last month in Los Angeles seeking to invalidate an agreement that prevented her from discussing the alleged sexual encounters. She argued the agreement, which she signed days before the 2016 presidential election, should be null and void because the president didn’t personally sign it.
The agreement was signed by Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen, who said he paid Clifford $130,000 from his own pocket. Clifford’s attorney, Michael Avenatti, said he has no doubt Trump knew about the agreement.
The suit hasn’t been settled but Daniels appeared on “60 Minutes” two weeks ago to discuss the encounter.
Trump spoke publicly about the controversy for the first time last week, telling reporters aboard Air Force One he hadn’t know about the $130,000 payment to keep Clifford quiet. He said he didn’t know why his longtime attorney, Michael Cohen, had made the payment.
In the past, the White House has said Trump denied having an affair but, until last week, the president didn’t directly address the issue.
Daniels and her media-savvy attorney are trying to invalidate the nondisclosure agreement with a public campaign that doles out news nuggets almost daily.
Daniels tweeted that flight delays in Texas would prevent her from making her appointed rounds.
“Due to travel delays, I will not be arriving in Detroit in time to get the required permit so I’m disappointed to say I will not be performing tonight,” Daniels wrote on Twitter. “I will see you soon though!”
