Michigan State picked up another transfer, adding former Arizona State defensive back Ed Woods to the mix for the 2024 season.

A former three-star prospect from Oakland, California, Woods started 14 games over the past two seasons for the Sun Devils and recorded 66 tackles and three forced fumbles over his four seasons at Arizona State.

Ed Woods, a defensive back who played at Arizona State, is transferring to Michigan State.

In his last 12 games (three starts) last season, the 6-foot, 175-pound redshirt senior registered 33 tackles, including three for loss, as well as four pass breakups, two forced fumbles and an interception.

Woods reportedly picked Michigan State over Alabama. He’s the 14th transfer the Spartans have added since former Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith took the program over after a 4-8 season.

Other transfer additions include quarterbacks Aidan Chiles (Oregon State) and Tommy Schuster (North Dakota State), tight end Jack Velling (Oregon State), offensive lineman Tanner Smith (Oregon State) and linebacker Wayne Matthews III (Old Dominion.) The Spartans also recently landed former UMass running back Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams.

Michigan State also has lost more than a dozen players to the portal, most notably Simeon Barrow Jr. and Derrick Harmon
