Detroit — The Red Wings are becoming prominent at the upcoming men's world championships.

Defenseman Jeff Petry (Team USA) and forward Lucas Raymond (Sweden) are the latest Wings to commit to the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) tournament.

Wings captain Dylan Larkin and goaltender Alex Lyon, were among the first 15 players announced by USA Hockey to its roster last week, joining coach Derek Lalonde and Wings goaltending coach Alex Westlund, both of whom were added to the Team USA coaching staff.

The world championships run from May 10-26 in Ostrava and Prague, Czechia.

Jeff Petry is making his fourth appearance in the world championships, joining Team USA, after notching 24 points wiht the Red Wings this season.

Petry, 36, had 24 points (three goals, 21 assists) for the Wings this season. This will be Petry's fourth appearance on a Team USA world championship roster, having played in 2012, '13 and '14. Petry collected nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 26 games through those 26 games.

Team USA will train in Bratislava, Slovakia, starting May 5 and play a pre-tournament game there against Slovakia on May 7. The U.S. will open play in the tournament against Sweden on May 10 in Ostrava, Czechia, at 8:20 p.m. local time (2:20 p.m. ET).

All U.S. games in the tournament will air live on NHL Network. The U.S. has finished in the top four of the IIHF men's world championship in seven of the last 10 tournaments with four bronze medals to its credit (2013, '15, '18 and '21).

Raymond had expressed an interest in representing Sweden at his season-ending press conference after the Wings' season concluded. But insurance complications weighed heavily, as Raymond is a restricted free agent this summer in line to get a substantial contract.

Those insurance concerns apparently have been worked out. Raymond starred for Sweden at last year's world championships, recording eight points (two goals, six assists) in eight games.

Raymond, 22, carried that momentum into this season, putting together his best NHL season with 31 goals, 41 assists and 72 points, all career-highs.

Several other Wings players are expected to be added to their national teams this week, as rosters become solidified.
