Trucks allowed a lone walk and struck out seven in the victory, which was secured on Vic Wertz's home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

Virgil Trucks, Aug. 25, 1952: The Tigers didn't have to wait another four decades for their next no-hitter, and neither did Trucks. Just three months later, Trucks twirled his second no-hitter, besting the New York Yankees, 1-0. Trucks' two no-hitters came during an otherwise dreadful season for the pitcher and the Tigers. Trucks finished with a 5-19 record, and the Tigers were 50-104.

Justin Verlander, May 7, 2011: Verlander needed more than three months to duplicate Trucks' feat of tossing another Tigers' no-hitter. Less than four years later, Verlander notched No. 2, blanking the Toronto Blue Jays, 9-0. The Tigers pounded out 11 hits and staked Verlander to a 6-0 lead after four innings. It was more than enough, as Verlander walked one in facing the minimum 27 batters.
