Jakkar Aimery is an award-winning reporter who covers breaking news across Metro Detroit and throughout Michigan for The Detroit News. He joined The News in 2021 as a digital news producer, following stints as a writer for Capital News Service and Great Lakes Echo in East Lansing, Michigan. Aimery, a broadcast journalism and sociology graduate of Michigan State University, is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
