Cadillac plans to expand V-Series across lineup

Cadillac is officially bringing the CT6 into the luxury brand's V-Series performance family, starting an expansion across Cadillac's lineup of cars and SUVs.

The CT6 V-Sport, which debuted at the New York International Auto Show in March with a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, is formally joining the Cadillac V-Series lineup. It replaces the CTS-V and ATS-V, two sedans on their way out of Cadillac's portfolio. 

“Beginning with the debut of the CTS-V Sedan in 2004, the V-Series sub-brand sparked new life into Cadillac,” GM's product development chief, Mark Reuss, said in a statement. “As a result of the overwhelming response the CT6 V-Sport received when revealed in early 2018, we’ve decided to formally make it a V-Series, signaling the expansion of V-Series.”

The CT6 V-Series is the first in Cadillac's larger rollout of the performance sub-brand and other performance variants across the lineup, which begins in 2019. This includes the new Blackwing V8 for the CT6-V.

“As we accelerate Cadillac’s growth around the world, our V-Series will continue to expand the brand, enhance its image and attract new buyers to our showroom,” Cadillac President Steve Carlisle said in a statement.

Cadillac began a three-year product offensive with the debut of the XT4 in New York, starting a six-month product cadence through 2021. The goal is to arm General Motors Co.'s luxury brand with a more modern product lineup, including at least two more crossovers.
