Here are seven ideas for getting out and about in Metro Detroit this weekend

Youmacon at Huntington Place

This multi-day convention returns to downtown Detroit this week for several days of cosplay, video games, Japanese animation, fan art theater, shopping, games and a charity ball. Within the event is a Maid Café, where adorably dressed maids and butlers serve desserts and drinks at timed seatings. This year’s Youmacon features special guests including voice actors, YouTubers and cosplayers. All day through Sunday. $43.40 and up. 1 Washington Blvd., Detroit. youmacon.com.

It will be a night of headlining sets from these three Latin hitmakers who have each charted over the past few decades with jams in the pop, dance and electronic music genres. Detroit songstress Audra Kubat hosts an evening of song from Michigan musicians Jordan Hamilton – who employs folk music, vocals, loop pedals and sample machines to make his unique sound – and folk musician Seth Bernard. Tim Meadows at One Night Stan’s Comedy Club

Detroit native and “Saturday Night Live” alum Tim Meadows comes to this 14,000-square-foot, 300-seat comedy club for four sets this weekend. Run of the Dead in southwest Detroit

Take a 5K or 10K jaunt through the southwest Detroit neighborhood during this annual race, a fundraiser for Center of Music & Performing Arts Southwest, or COMPAS, and a celebration of Dia de los Muertos. Crystal Canyon at Outer Limits Lounge

Shoegaze band Crystal Canyon of Portland, Maine, roll through town in support of its third album, “Stars and Distant Light.” The band is fronted by Detroit-bred musician Lynda Mandolyn (of pioneering punk band Inside Out). All Things Detroit Holiday Experience at Eastern Market

Support local as you start your holiday shopping this weekend at this shopping bonanza. As many as 12,000 people are expected to shop among the more than 200 small businesses selling gifts, handmade pieces, food and other goods. There’s also a chance to take a photo with Santa Claus and grab a bite from a food truck.
