Blue Note Record’s 85th Anniversary Celebration at Majestic Theatre

The Blue Note Quintet was assembled to pay homage to this historic record label’s 85th anniversary. It’s led by musical director and pianist Gerald Clayton, who is joined by Joel Ross, Immanuel Wilkins, drummer Kendrick Scott and bassist Matt Brewer. “Gerald Clayton is one of the most accomplished, distinctive and innovative pianists performing today,” says Detroit’s own Don Was, Blue Note Record’s present since 2012. “Rising Scorpion” art exhibit at Madonna University

Detroit visual artist Nivek Monet will showcase his latest collection of paintings and metal sculptures titled “Resurgence 3.5: Raising Scorpion.” The opening reception is 6-8 p.m. Fri. and the works will be on display through March 15. “The Last Voyage” at Planet Ant

Part improv comedy and party murder-mystery show, “The Last Voyage” stars Jeff Fritz and Alanna Elling as detectives trying to solve a murder. A notable local person guest stars in an improvised role half way through each show. Michigan Philharmonic at St. John’s Chapel

The Plymouth-based Michigan Philharmonic will kick off the second half of its 78th season with “Mini Masterpieces – Captivating Keyboards” with works by composer Shruthi Rajasekar and others, some of which include use of the chapel organ. The Champions of Magic at Fisher Theatre

A team of magicians take the stage in New Center this weekend for an interactive, two-hour show of dazzling tricks, masterful illusions and special effects.
