Big Sean announces first book, 'Go Higher,' due out in October
The Detroit rapper also said he's preparing to release new music in 2024.
Detroit rapper Big Sean is becoming Detroit author Big Sean.
On Wednesday, Big Sean announced the release of his first book, "Go Higher: Five Practices for Purpose, Success, and Inner Peace." The book will be released Oct. 8 from Simon Element and is now available for pre-order.
"It's a book where I took all the lessons I learned, all the philosophies mixed with real life experiences, and condensed what works for me into these five strategies that really will teach you what success means to you and show you what your purpose is, if you don't already know," Sean said in an Instagram post announcing the book.
The 36-year-old, born Sean Anderson, elaborated about the book and its genesis to People.
"The point of this book really is how to have a foundation to build upon for wellness, for your mental, for spiritual, spiritually," he said. "How to have a piece of armor for the tough times that you may have to endure. You know, a lot of us wait until we're in the darkest place to start praying or to start working on ourselves."
Big Sean also said he's also working on new music that's due for release later this year. He released a new single, "Precision," in March.
Last week, Big Sean participated in an NPR Tiny Desk concert in which he performed 14 songs, including "Memories," "Bounce Back" and "One Man Can Change the World."
