Vinyl Tasting dinner at Spot Light: This monthly pop-up features a multi-course meal inspired by a different album. Next month its Kendrick Lamar’s “Good Kid M.A.A.D. City.” Enjoy a six-course plated dinner with paired wines that are inspired by songs from the 2012 album. Chili Cook-off Competition at Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill: Start perfecting your recipes now, as this annual cooking competition returns this winter. The family friendly event has chili tasting, but also live music, games and drinks. Those interested in registering have until Jan. 31. Portofino on the River is closing in Wyandotte: Longstanding waterfront restaurant and banquet hall Portofino is closing at the end of this month, after service on New Year’s Eve. “It was with much deliberation and sadness that the owners have decided it is time to sell the business,” reads a statement posted to social media. Farmer’s Fridge opens at Detroit Metro Airport: It’s called a micro-restaurant or a smart vending machine, and it’s landed at DTW. Farmer’s Fridge is an autonomous kiosk that serves healthy food that’s cheaper than a lot of other airport fare and can be ready in 30 seconds. Among the rotating menu of 25 dishes are salads, grain bowls, wraps, sandwiches, parfaits and snacks, all for $11 or less. Find Farmer’s Fridge near the baggage claim for now and more are coming.
