Student-run restaurant reopens at Henry Ford: Fifty-One O One, the student-run restaurant at Henry Ford College. has reopened for the winter semester. Find light lunches, soups, sandwiches and salads or entrees like duck confit, red wine-braised short ribs, roasted lamb, seafood, pasta and more at affordable prices. Mootz Pizzeria and Bar celebrates: To mark its fifth anniversary, this downtown Detroit pizzeria will offer guests a $5 deal on select beer and wine, a garlic knots appetizer or a duo of Nonna’s meatballs. The deals run through Sunday. Mootz also announced this month that it would be expanding its footprint to be able to serve an additional 50 guests in an area dubbed Bar Mootz, tailor-made for daily customers or private events. Fried Chicken and Caviar brunch pop-up at Shelby Detroit: One of the hottest pop-ups popping right now, Fried Chicken and Caviar will host brunch inside a speakeasy-style lounge Shelby Detroit every Sunday in February. Besides their namesake dish, chefs Chi Walker and Nik Cole will serve sweet potato hash, pork belly cinnamon rolls and a shaved Brussels sprouts salad. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 29. Chicken soup cook-off at Temple Shir Shalom: A perfect event for the dead of winter, this 11th annual cook-off aims to raise money for Metro Food Rescue, Care House and the temple’s youth and young adult programming. Chef Amado Lopez guests at Bar Pigalle: Taking a break from slinging excellent tacos at his Berkley restaurant Casa Amado, chef Amado Lopez will take over French-inspired restaurant Bar Pigalle for one night only. James Beard Foundation – Great Lakes Eat & Drink Week at Frame: Celebrating the 2024 James Beard Award semifinalists in the Great Lakes region, Frame will host a series of events to benefit the James Beard Foundation. Chefs on the semifinal nomination list for national categories as well as Best Chefs: Great Lakes will create a course, with a different lineup each night. Feeding Detroit Together at MGM Grand Detroit: A fundraiser for Forgotten Harvest, this event has dinner, entertainment and dancing.
