Mezcal Ferndale celebrates two years: To mark its second anniversary in downtown Ferndale, Mezcal Mexican Bar & Kitchen is giving away free tacos from the taco truck at Bermuda and Nine Mile 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday. Each customer can get one free steak, chicken, birria or veggie taco. Celebrate for dine-in at the Ferndale location (201 E. Nine Mile) or in Midtown Detroit (51 W. Forest) with margarita deals. Buy one and get the second half-off throughout the day. The Ferndale location will also have a live mariachi band 6-8 p.m. on Thursday.

Bacco Ristorante extends service before closing: Originally set to close for good last weekend, chef and owner Luciano DelSignore announced Monday that he would extend service at Bacco in Southfield. Birria at Frame Bar: Chef Eddie Vargas transforms Frame Bar in Hazel Park into Birria Bar next month with his weeks-long residency. The Mexican American chef will serve his famous guajillo-braised beef birria and other authentic dishes and bar snacks, plus a full list of cocktails to complement the Mexican menu. Cooking for One at Angela Hospice Grief Care: Chef Allie Lyttle of Lala’s in Ann Arbor (and a former “Chopped” contestant) will lead an in-person seminar that gives tips and techniques on cooking for one. Detroit restaurant expands to Nashville: Experience Zuzu, a new restaurant in downtown Detroit owned by the same hospitality group that runs Parc, Anchor Bar and other spots, plans to open a location in Nashville. Browndog Creamery has new flavors: Next month, this Northville-based brand will launch two new flavors of ice cream. Look for strawberry sugar cookie on April 1 and marshmallow treat on April 29.
