Local chef on “Chopped”: Tuesday night watch Detroit chef Shanel DeWalt from the Make Food Not Waste nonprofit compete on an episode of “Chopped: Trash Into Treasure” where chef will battle to see who can make the best-tasting dish from ingredients that would otherwise be discarded. The episode airs 8 p.m. Tues. on Food Network.

Food Folks: Taste of Lebanon at Folk: Chef Amanda Saab is the guest chef at Corktown cafe Folk for their ongoing dinner series. Saab, who has appeared on “MasterChef,” will present a four-course dinner featuring roasted za’atar chicken with jeweled saffron rice and spicy cilantro sauce, lamb-filled dumplings, citrus and fennel salad and a sfouf turmeric semolina cake. Slice for Life at Buddy’s Pizza: More than $4 million has been donated to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen through Buddy’s Pizza’s Slice of Life champaign. On April 29 the brand will donate 20% of both dine-in and carryout sales from all locations to the longstanding nonprofit. Andiamo Pasta & Chops to open at the Mall at Partridge Creek: Joe Vicari Restaurant Group announced plans to open a new concept this summer at the Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township. Andiamo Pasta and Chops will be similar to the Andiamo Italian Steakhouse in Las Vegas, with a focus on prime steak, Italian dishes and wine. It will go in a 7,670-square-foot space formerly occupied by Brio Italian Grille after a large-scale renovation.

New tasting menu at Pao: Upscale nightlife destination Pao restaurant this week launched two new six-course tasting menus for a fixed price. Menu one is $50 per person and features blue fin tuna tacos, dumplings, salad, crispy salmon, wagyu sliders and panna cotta for dessert. A second offering is $65 per person with tuna carpaccio, Pao Pao shrimp, char-grilled octopus, lo mien noodles, lamb chops and a chocolate dessert.
