This spring, the Social Brews will open in downtown with 45 self-pour taps, a kitchen with rotating chefs and a coffee shop.

Owners of the multi-use space also plan to host local music, corporate events and private meetings. There will be indoor dining as well as a patio space.

The Social Brews self-pour beer hall, coffee shop and restaurant is expected to open this spring in downtown Detroit.

The self-pour tap model is new to Michigan, but can be seen at bars across town, including Boulder's Bistro & Brew in Eastern Market and North End Tap Room in Royal Oak. Monitored by staff members and electronically, guests pour their own beers and are usually charged by the ounce.

According to Social Brews’ website, the owners are two beer enthusiasts: Nisharth Patel from Michigan and Sanjay Patel from Ohio.

“We’re thrilled to bring this unique and social concept to Detroit,” they said in a press release announcing the new bar and restaurant. “Our goal is to create a space where people can come together and enjoy great food, drinks and music, and socialize, all while supporting local talent and businesses.”

The Social Brews will open this spring at 211 W. Fort at Washington Boulevard, near Huntington Place. Visit thesocialbrews.com for more information on the rotational chef program or to learn more about private events.
