Detroit producer Peekaboo released a new album this month, "Eyes Wide Open," and performs at the Crofoot Ballroom on Dec. 15.

A weekly showcase featuring local musicians

Name: Peekaboo

Sound: Electronic music, bass music and dubstep

History: Peekaboo, known off stage as Matthew Lucas, is a Detroit-bred electronic music producer who grew up with music in the house; his dad William George Lucas played trumpet for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. After hearing a Skrillex song while playing video games, Peekaboo was inspired to work in the genre, and has since collaborated with heavy hitters including Skrillex and Zeds Dead.

The latest: The musician's debut album "Eyes Wide Open," released on Nov. 3, is 13 tracks of largely high-energy dubstep. Among the many collaborations on the album is "You Got Me," a laid back tune featuring the elder Lucas musician on trumpet.

Peekaboo embarks on a United States tour in support of the album next month. Find him locally at the Crofoot Ballroom, 1 S. Saginaw in Pontiac, on Dec. 15. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $35. Buy tickets and learn more about Peekaboo at peekaboobeats.com.
