Name: Jessica Care Moore

History: This internationally known Detroit poet, producer, performer and playwright has a creative career that goes back to the 1990s when she wowed audiences at New York's Apollo Theatre with her spoken word performance. Since then the prolific artist has published books, produced theater shows, released albums and founded Black Women Rock, a movement honoring and spotlighting female artists.

The latest: Moore is one of the headliners of "Queens of the Song Age," a show happening Dec. 14 at the Detroit House of Music, 5603 14 Street in Detroit. Roots musician Sierra Skye Baker also performs, and singer/songwriters Marbrisa and Audra Kubat host the evening. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

The evening includes a floral installation by artist Liza Jayne Lewis, who is creating an art piece for the stage. Tickets include hot tea from Marbisa's tea bar and light vegan fair.
