Madonna at Little Caesars Arena: Everything you need to know for the homecoming show

It's probably going to be a late night when Madonna plays the downtown arena on Monday.

Madonna is coming home for a Celebration.

OK, Madonna hasn't called Michigan home since, like, the '70s. But she'll always be our Material Girl, our Queen of Pop, our very own Madonna, and every time she plays a Detroit show, it's a special occasion.

Pop icon Madonna, center, performs on stage with Colombian singer Maluma (out of frame) during his concert "Medallo in the Map," in Medellin, Colombia, on April 30, 2022.

Madonna is performing at Little Caesars Arena on Monday as part of her Celebration Tour, which commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's legendary, groundbreaking, earth shaking, record breaking, unfathomably ginormous music career.

Why Celebration? Well there's her 1983 single "Holiday," whose lyrics ("If we took a holiday, took some time to celebrate/ Just one day out of life, it would be, it would be so nice") extoll the virtues of celebrating. In addition there's "Celebration," her 2009 single, and the title track of her third greatest hits album. Also, it's Madonna. Do you really need any more of a reason to celebrate?

Any other questions about the show? Hopefully we've asked them, and answered them, below.

Are tickets still available?

Yes. Upper level seats are going for $98 and up on Ticketmaster, and lower bowl seats are going for $225-$827. Floor seats will run you $500 and up, with some tickets close to the stage going for as much as $2,500.

On Stubhub, single tickets range from $109 to $5,568.

What are set times?

Ticket time says 8:30 p.m., but that's wishful thinking. Put it this way: It's not likely to be an early night.

Since the Celebration Tour came Stateside last month, Madonna has routinely been taking the stage after 10 p.m., usually around 10:20 p.m. but as late as 10:50 p.m. And the show is over two hours, so if those start times hold, don't expect to get back to your car until after 12:30 a.m.

And no, there's no curfew at Little Caesars Arena, despite what Drake wanted you to believe when he played there over the summer and told a fib about being fined for playing past 11 p.m.

When do doors open?

Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

How much does merch cost?

Merchandise will be available at the venue's merch stands, and is also available at Madonna's website, where keychains are $15, hats are $40, T-shirts are $45, hoodies are $90, hoodies with rhinestones are $195 and tour jackets are $250.

Madonna speaks at the MTV Video Music Awards at Barclays Center on Sept. 12, 2021, in New York. Madonna will launch a new tour through North America and Europe this summer that will be include 38 songs in the Billboard Hot 100. The 35-city tour will kick off on July 15 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia with stops in Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles.

What's the setlist like?

The tour is celebrating the entirety of Madonna's 40-year career, so expect plenty of hits, along with a focus on "Erotica," Madonna's 1992 album that accompanied the release of her risqué coffee table book, "Sex."

Wasn't this show supposed to happen last year?

Yes. The concert was originally scheduled for Aug. 5, but was postponed in June when Madonna fell ill with a bacterial infection that caused her to spend several days in the ICU. The tour was reshuffled to launch in Europe when the new dates were announced in August.

Madonna "Rebel Heart" tour at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan on October 1, 2015.

Is there an opening act?

Yes, Bob the Drag Queen — the comic, podcaster and former "RuPaul's Drag Race" winner — is the opener for all dates on the Celebration Tour.

Can I bring a purse?

Bags, purses and clutches larger than 4" by 6" by 1.5" are prohibited inside Little Caesars Arena, according to the venue's website. Single compartment bags, wallets and clutches smaller than 4" by 6" by 1.5" with or without a handle strap are permitted. What else is going on in town that night?

Big Sean and Judge Greg Mathis are among the honorees at the Fox Theatre during Rainbow Push's MLK Birthday Celebration, starting at 5 p.m. Tickets for the event are free but need to be reserved in advance through Ticketmaster.

The concert dodged a bullet when the Detroit Lions playoff game was scheduled for Sunday instead of Monday, which would have made for a chaotic scene downtown.

When was Madonna's last Detroit concert?

She performed at Joe Louis Arena on her Rebel Heart Tour on Oct. 1, 2015. Her Madame X Tour, in 2019, set up a series of residencies — 16 shows in New York, seven shows in Chicago, etc. — but never visited the Motor City.

How many times has Madonna played Detroit?

Eleven. In addition to the 2015 concert, Madonna previously played Detroit on Nov. 8, 2012, at Joe Louis Arena on her MDNA Tour; on Nov. 18, 2008, at Ford Field on her Sticky & Sweet Tour; on Aug. 25 and 26, 2001, at the Palace of Auburn Hills on her Drowned World Tour; on Oct. 21, 1993, at the Palace on her Girlie Show Tour; on May 31 and June 1, 1990, at the Palace on her Blond Ambition World Tour; on Aug. 7, 1987, at the Pontiac Silverdome on her Who's That Girl World Tour; and on May 25 and 26, 1985, at Cobo Arena on her Virgin Tour.

Madonna's 2004 Re-Invention World Tour and 2006 Confessions Tour skipped Detroit.

Random question, but what are Madonna's top streaming songs?

There are no random questions, only random answers. And Madonna's top streaming song is definitely random.

Because Madonna is a pre-streaming superstar, her streaming numbers aren't necessarily representative of her career. Let's count down her top five on Spotify: No. 5 is "Like a Prayer," with 311 million streams, No. 4 is "La Isla Bonita" with 339 million streams, No. 3 is "Hung Up," with 383 million streams.

Any guesses for the top two? No. 2 is "Material Girl," with 401 million streams. Which leaves... "Vogue?" Nope. "Into the Groove?" Guess again. Madonna's top streaming song on Spotify is — wait for it — "Popular," her 2023 collaboration with the Weeknd and Playboi Carti, from HBO's "The Idol," with 460 million streams. It's a bit of a shock, yes. But when has Madonna ever not loved a good shock?
