The Detroit arm of Afro Nation, which is billed as the world's biggest Afrobeats festival, will return Aug. 17 and 18 with Nigerian rapper Rema headlining a lineup that includes Toronto R&B singer Partynextdoor and Detroit rapper Kash Doll, organizers announced Wednesday.

Those artists, along with Uncle Waffles, Scorpion Kings, Ayra Starr, Amaarae, King Promise, Ruger, Adekunle Gold, Musa Keys and more, make up the first wave of artists for the two-day festival, which will unfold at Bedrock's Douglass Site in Detroit, the former site of the Brewster-Douglass Housing Projects.

Rema performs during the Brit Awards 2024 in London, Saturday, March. 2, 2024.

Registration for tickets, starting at $199 for general admission and $299 for VIP, is now open at the festival's website. Tickets go on sale starting April 3.

The event follows last year's inaugural Afro Nation Detroit festival, which featured performances by Burna Boy, Dej Loaf, Latto and more.

"Bringing Afro Nation back to Detroit, the home of Motown and Techno music was an easy decision,” said Afro Nation co-founder Adesegun Adeosun Jr., aka Smade, in a statement. "Detroit embodies culture, creativity, and pride. The energy here is electric, echoing the heartbeat of Afro Nation's spirit. In Detroit, we found a community that welcomed us with open arms, sharing our passion for unity and celebration, giving us a home away from home. Afro Nation Detroit 2024 will be even bigger than last year, and we can't wait to celebrate with you."

Afro Nation hosts several festivals worldwide. The year's fest in Portugal, June 26-28, features headliner Nicki Minaj, along with Rema, Asake, Fally Ipupa and more.
