Jeremy Facknitz performs Saturday at Trinity House Theatre in Livonia

A weekly showcase featuring local artists

Name: Jeremy Facknitz

Sound: Folk/singer-singersongwriter

History: Facknitz is a native of southeastern Michigan, but has been living in Colorado. While he had a band called the Ottomans in Detroit until 2002, he's largely been a solo act since then. He spent a large portion of the 2000s and 2010s performing in bars and corporate gigs while teaching music on the side. That changed in 2017 when Facknitz was diagnosed with viral meningitis, which inspired him to shift his focus toward performing at concert houses and more songwriter-friendly spaces.

Next: The singer, songwriter and musician will come back to his home state for a single concert Saturday at the Trinity House Theatre, 38840 Six Mile in Livonia. Josh Rose opens the show, which starts at 8 p.m. after doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available on the venue's website, trinityhousetheatre.org/event/jeremy-facknitz-w-josh-rose-april-6-2024.

"Trinity House Theatre is my favorite small venue in the nation, and it's always wonderful to come back home to the Mitten," he said. "I love performing new original material near where I grew up, yet also having the excuse to play some older, deep cuts, which are only known and loved by a handful of people right here in southeast Michigan."
