Name: Marv Won

Sound: Hip-hop, rap

History: A prolific veteran of the Detroit hip-hop scene, Marv Won is known as a fierce battle rapper and has been part of the city’s music landscape for 25 years. He’s toured with D-12 and Eminem and has worked with Danny Brown, Dwele, Royce da 5′9″, Denaun Porter and many others. In 2022 Marv Won was named by BET on their list of “50 Best Battle Rappers of All Time.” He's released several studio albums, EPs and has made guest appearances on handfuls of tracks from his peers.

The latest: Last week Marv Won dropped “I’m Fine, Thanks For Asking,” his fifth studio album. It’s described as “a nod to the Motor City’s rugged past, and a bold leap into its future; and a milestone in Detroit’s storied rap saga.” Released on Mello Music Group, the 10-track, self-produced album features guest appearances by the Upstairs Gang, Monica Blaire, Quelle Chris and others.
