Detroit Jazz Festival lineup announced
The Billy Childs Quartet, Cameron Graves, Carmen Lundy, the Joshua Redman Group and the Zig Zag Power Trio are just some of the acts coming to the Motor City this Labor Day weekend as part of the annual Detroit Jazz Festival.
Organizers announced big names that are part of the lineup Wednesday, weeks after revealing that jazz drummer and composer Brian Blade is the 2024 Artist-in-Residence. The Grammy Award-winning musician will perform several times throughout the event, which is in downtown Detroit Aug. 30-Sept. 2.
"It's amazing. Compared to any other festival in the world it is truly, truly incredible and a communal jewel, if you will," Blade told The Detroit News in March.
“This year’s lineup reflects a very dynamic and eclectic combination of next generation and legacy jazz musicians who reflect the diverse tapestry of jazz and its evolutions,” said Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation’s president and artistic director Chris Collins in a press release. “We look forward to their energy and craftsmanship on our stages and seeing our faithful jazz fans in downtown Detroit on Labor Day weekend.”
Here’s the full list of performers released by the Detroit Jazz Festival this week. A schedule will be posted to detroitjazzfest.org closer to the event.
