Jennifer Lopez promises Detroit stop on next tour

“American Idol’s” Top 24 contestants performed at the Fillmore Detroit on Thursday, which already gives them a leg up on “Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez.

That’s because in all her years as a performer, J. Lo has never done a concert in the Motor City.

“We’ve never done Detroit? That’s crazy!” said Lopez, prior to Thursday’s “Idol” taping.

Crazy, but true: Lopez’s 2007 tour with Marc Anthony played dates in Toronto and Chicago but never touched down in Detroit, and her 2012 “Dance Again” outing played nearly 70 cities around the globe but skipped Detroit again. Outside of those major tours, she’s done other shows, but never here.

Lopez was in disbelief. “Have I never done Detroit? I feel like I have. Are you sure?” she asked. “We’ve got to, we’ve got to. It’s insane that we haven’t played here. Next tour, I promise!”

Having just entered the Fillmore from the sub-zero temperatures outside, Jenny from the Block had one caveat for her promised Detroit visit: No wintertime shows.

“We’ll be back in the summer,” she said.
