Chicago artist chosen for third Write A House
The third Write A House winner is cultural critic, writer, artist and editor Anne Elizabeth Moore.
The Chicago artist has been chosen to receive a free house in Detroit’s Banglatown neighborhood, according to a release from the Write A House organization. The group provides vocational training to young people in the area to help them renovate vacant and foreclosed houses. Three of these houses have been completed, and two have been given away to talented writers chosen by a panel.
Moore was a 2014 finalist who submitted part of her upcoming book in her citation. “Threadbare: Clothes, Sex and Trafficking” will be published in May. Moore is the founding editor of Best American Comics and has written for many other publications. She has a graduate degree from Chicago’s School of the Art Institute.

Journalist Liana Aghajanian was bestowed a Write A House in October and moved in in February. Poet Casey Rocheteau was honored with the first house in November 2014.
