Junior League Show House Opens with preview party May 3

More than 20 local interior designers have spent weeks transforming an 8,500-square-foot Tudor at 315 Lakeland in Grosse Pointe into the Junior League of Detroit’s latest — and last — Designers’ Show House. Designed by renowned architect George D. Mason and built in 1929 for Dr. J. Milton Robb, the house is a fundraiser for the JLD and a longtime local favorite. Since the first one, held in 1976, the every-other-year event has raised more than $5 million for programs, partnerships and projects in the city of Detroit. Proceeds will support the JLD’s work with Brilliant Detroit, a nonprofit that addresses early childhood development and kindergarten readiness. A preview party will be held May 3. The house is open for tours May 4-19; tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Hours are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, Thursday and Friday evenings 6-8 p.m., 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 12-5 Sunday. Watch for a larger story in Homestyle on May 3. Visit jldetroit.org.
