A 72-year-old man is being treated for smoke inhalation after a fire early Friday on Detroit's east side.

The Detroit Fire Department got a call about a fire in a house on McClellan Street around 8:15 a.m., said James Harris, a spokesman.

The fire was quickly extinguished, Harris said.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the blaze.

The man was rescued from the home and taken to the hospital, Harris said. His condition is not known at this time.

"The women and men of the Detroit Fire Department did a great job here," Harris said. "There was a fast response time and a good job."
