The Detroit News Holiday Cheer for Charity competition is advancing to its final round.

The competition, which awards $20,000 to a charity with the most reader votes, opened the final round at noon on Friday. It lasts until 11:59 a.m. on Dec. 15.

First round voters cast more than 8,000 votes across 14 round one charities.

In round two, voters can donate to the top five finalists for a chance to award that charity $20,000 from The Detroit News.

The final round charities are:

A Kid Again: The nonprofit provides positive experiences, community and long-term support to children with life-threatening conditions and their families. Facebook | Instagram

Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance: The organization supports Michigan residents impacted by ovarian cancer and funds research while raising awareness on the issue. Facebook | Instagram

Rhonda Walker Foundation: The five-year leadership program mentors teen girls on how to grow their confidence, build successful futures and become leaders. Facebook | Instagram

Voters can donate online through FundRazr with a minimum of $10. Offline donations are not accepted.

Each donation goes to the reader's choice nonprofit, which keeps donations no matter what they raise in the competition.

Readers can also support their favorite contestant on social media and tag The Detroit News.

The News will award $20,000 to the nonprofit with the most donations raised to the dollar.

The 2022 Cheer for Charity campaign garnered more than 6,000 public votes in the first round and raised more than $68,000 by the end of round two, which crowned St. Clair Shores nonprofit 4 Paws 1 Heart the winner.
