From Jan. 1-Feb. 24, 2024, bus drivers were involved in 57 collisions, although Transit Police investigated only 37 of the incidents, in part because a labor shortage forced Transit Police to abandon the midnight shift more than a year ago, and collisions at night were handled by Detroit Police.

Of the cases investigated by Transit Police, 24 collisions happened when DDOT drivers hit other vehicles or objects, the reports show.

• Jan. 4, 10:15 a.m.: A DDOT driver struck a van's mirror that was parked on Joy Road near Grand River.
• Jan. 6, 10:58 a.m.: A motorist changed lanes on Eight Mile near Schoenherr, clipping the bus.
• Jan. 12, 9:20 a.m.: A vehicle ran a stop sign at Plymouth and Pinehurst, striking the coach.
• Jan. 12, 4:25 p.m.: A bus hit a bus shelter at Oakman near Linwood.
• Jan. 12, 5:10 p.m.: A bus struck a parked car on Joseph Campeau and Berres.
• Jan. 12, 6:10 p.m.: A white F-150 truck hit a bus on Puritan near Fairfield and fled.
• Jan. 14, 3:30 p.m.: An SUV hit the bus and drove away at Livernois and Burlingame.
• Jan. 15, 8:57 a.m.: A bus driver was reportedly unable to stop because of the icy road and struck a vehicle on Cass near Amsterdam.
• Jan. 16, 6:32: A DDOT driver made an improper turn at Cass and Wayne, causing an accident. The driver was given a ticket.
• Jan. 16, 5:40 p.m.: A vehicle tried to pass the bus at Cass near Temple and hit the coach's bumper.
• Jan. 16, 5:55 p.m.: While parked on Livernois near Ewald Circle, a bus was rear-ended by a vehicle that fled.
• Jan. 17, 8:41 a.m.: A truck drove past a bus on Gratiot near Gunston, breaking the coach's mirror.
• Jan. 17, 4 p.m.: A bus hit another vehicle on Schaefer near Fort, breaking the vehicle's mirror.
• Jan. 19, 5:55 p.m.: A bus hit another bus on Larned and Woodward.
• Jan. 22, 10:50 a.m.: A bus driver hit a truck on the I-75 service drive and 14th Street.
• Jan. 22, 7:22 p.m.: A DDOT driver damaged the bus' mirror after clipping a barrier on Six Mile near Telegraph.
• Jan. 23, 6:28 p.m.: An accident happened at 2nd and Amsterdam, although no other details are provided in the Transit Police report.
• Jan. 24, 9:10 p.m.: A bus driver said a slick spot in the road caused him to lose control of the bus and hit a freeway median on northbound I-75 near south I-375.
• Jan. 28, 11:20 a.m.: A bus hit the side of another vehicle while turning onto Washington Boulevard from Grand River.
• Jan. 28, 10:15 p.m.: A bus driver hit a vehicle and broke its mirror at State Fair and Irvington.
• Jan. 30, 9:28 p.m.: A vehicle hit a bus on Jefferson near Griswold before the motorist drove away.
• Feb. 1, 1:11 p.m.: A bus was parked at Warren near Algonquin when a vehicle hit the coach from the rear, and the driver fled.
• Feb. 2, 9:20 a.m.: A driver plowed her bus into a parked vehicle on Schaefer near Osborne.
• Feb. 2, 2:05 p.m.: A bus driver hit a pole at 5149 St. Jean. The accident damaged the bus.
• Feb. 3, 8:15 p.m.: A bus driver disregarded a stop sign and hit another vehicle on Hamilton near Collingwood.
• Feb. 3, 8:30 p.m.: A bus was parked at a bus stop at Seven Mile and Warwick when a vehicle ran into the rear of the coach before the driver took off.
• Feb. 4, 4:38 p.m.: As a DDOT driver was making a turn on Trumbull near Bagley, she ran into another vehicle, causing damage.
• Feb. 5, 10:55 a.m.: A DDOT driver struck a parked vehicle near Dexter and Ewald.
• Feb. 6, 12 a.m.: A man claimed he was hit by a DDOT bus on Woodward near Eight Mile.
• Feb. 7, 5:19 p.m.: A man in a parked car opened his door as a bus drove by on Grand River near Glastonbury, and the coach clipped the door.
• Feb. 8, 5:40 p.m.: The DDOT driver hit a utility pole while making a turn at Larned and McDougall.
• Feb. 8, 5:15 p.m.: While picking up passengers at Rosa Parks and Clairmount, a bus driver ran into a bus stop shelter, damaging the roof.
• Feb. 9, 1:22 p.m.: A driver was turning from Kercheval onto Mt. Elliot when the bus hit another vehicle that was also in the process of making a turn.
• Feb. 16, 4:48 p.m.: A vehicle ran a red light at Grand Boulevard and Warren, hitting the bus.
• Feb. 21, 6 p.m.: A bus driver ran her coach into a pole at Russell and Grand Boulevard.
• Feb. 22, 4:07 p.m.: A DDOT bus driver rammed a SMART bus at Larned and Beaubien.
• Feb. 24, 5:10 p.m.: A car switched lanes and ran into a bus at Cass and Montcalm.
