Detroit is almost ready for the spotlight.

Construction continues on the "theater" that will host next week's NFL Draft just east of Campus Martius. Crews continued to work on the stage Tuesday, after construction on it began in late March. More than 500 truckloads of gear were required to build it.

"We have a great draft theater being built," said NFL Director of Event Operations Steve Farago, who gave an update on Tuesday to media outlets.

The Draft Theater will host approximately 1,700 guests and invited people. Farago said what the NFL is really trying to do is bringing in the "art and decor" from the city of Detroit.

"It's an ode to the Spirit of Detroit statue down there on Woodward," You'll see that in our LED design and decor. We're really trying to pull that spirit and look and feel of downtown Detroit through our setup."

The draft begins with the first round on Thursday night, April 25, and continues Friday, April 26, with Rounds 2-3. The Draft will conclude on Saturday, April 27, with Rounds 4-7.
