A man has been charged in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 10-year-old Detroit girl on Wednesday.

Cedric Jackson, 59, of Detroit was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment, according to a release Saturday from Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

"It is difficult to understand that there are those who would sexual(ly) assault victims who are ten, and even younger," Worthy said in the release. "No matter how long we do this work, it gets us in the gut every time.”

At about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jackson allegedly lured the girl into his house in the 15700 block of Braille and sexually assaulted her, authorities said. He released the girl afterward, and she was taken to a local hospital where she was examined, authorities said.

Her mother reported her missing to Detroit public school officials when the girl didn't return home from school Wednesday.

Authorities found Jackson's location with information obtained by school officials. A school police officer took the the man into custody and called the Detroit police who investigated the case.
