A driver was arrested Wednesday night after fleeing a traffic stop in Detroit with children in their vehicle, Michigan State Police said.

A state police helicopter tracked the Jeep with thermal imagery as it continued down Woodrow Wilson and other areas, according to footage the MSP Second District posted on X.

The video showed the police pursuit and the vehicle quickly traveling down a road as other cars passed.

The driver stopped outside an abandoned home and began running with another adult and three small children, according to MSP.

They left another child in a baby seat, state police reported.

Detroit police entered the house and found the adults and children hiding, according to MSP.

“These suspects showed no regard for the safety of the children in the car or those driving around them," First Lt. Mike Shaw, public information for the MSP Second District, said on X. "Great work by our pilots and DPD to take these suspects into custody without anyone getting hurt.”

Other details were not released.

MSP and Detroit Police Department representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday.
