Metro Detroit's forecast is calling for sunny skies and milder temperatures to kick off the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

After a freeze warning for all of southeast Michigan that expired at 8 a.m., meteorologists at the agency's White Lake Township office said conditions should be dry and the temperature will climb into the mid-50s, which is colder than usual.

The normal high temperature on April 25 is 63 degrees, according to weather service data. The warmest on record was in 1994 with 87 and the coldest was in 1892 at 26.

NWS also predicts Friday, the draft's second day, will be pleasant for most of the day with temperatures expected to reach the 60s. However, the forecast includes rain and the chance of thunderstorms developing at night. Officials said a series of low-pressure systems will push the storms through the region.

On Saturday, the event's last day, the weather service said temperatures will warm up but there'll be rain in the morning followed by a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms into the evening.

Saturday is also expected to be breezy with winds blowing from the south to the southwest at 25-30 mph, the weather service said.

Both warming and breezy trends should continue on Sunday, according to officials. Sunday's high temperature is expected to reach the low 80s.
