Eminem’s ex-sister-in-law in Warren dies

The Detroit News

The former sister-in-law of rapper Eminem who lives in Warren has died.

Dawn Marie Scott died Tuesday at age 41, according to an obituary on the website for the Lee-Ellena Funeral Home in Macomb Township. Published reports suggest the Warren resident was found unresponsive in a trailer park after an apparent drug overdose.

Visitation is scheduled for 2-8 p.m. Friday at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home, 46530 Romeo Plank, Macomb Township. Services are Saturday there.

Scott is the twin sister of Kim Mathers, who married and divorced Eminem twice. The couple also cared for Alaina, who is listed as Scott’s daughter.

In a post on the funeral home website, Mathers wrote: “Dawn was my sweet, beautiful sister who lost her way. I kept a light lit for her hoping she’d find her way back to me. I miss her and love her more than anything I could ever say. I wish she was here so I could hug her and tell her I love her. Half of me is gone and I will never feel whole again. She made me laugh and kept me on my toes. She was the best sister and friend in the world and I will miss her until we are together again.”

Other survivors include two additional children, Adam and Patrick, and parents Casimer and Kathleen Sluck. She also was aunt to Whitney Scott, Hailie Scott and Parker Scott.

Scott apparently had several run-ins with the law.

In December 2006, days after Eminem formally divorced her for the second time, Kim Mathers had her twin sister arrested on a complaint of child kidnapping, police said. The kidnapping charge involved Scott’s then-7-year-old son, for whom she did not have parental rights, authorities say. The boy was unharmed and returned home.
