Police: Man hit worker in head with bowling ball

Roseville — Police are looking for two men who beat up a bowling alley worker Wednesday in a violent attack that ended with the employee being struck by a bowling ball, officials said.

The alleged attack happened at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Apollo Lanes bowling alley on Gratiot near 12 Mile, according to authorities.

A group of people was bowling at the business when it became unruly and created a disturbance, police said. One of the bowling alley's employees asked the group to leave, they said.

Several members of the group surrounded the counter where the employee was standing, police said.

One of the men in the group reached over the counter and punched the employee in the face, officials said. Another man in the group stepped behind the counter and punched and kicked the worker in the face and on his body, they said.

The first assailant walked behind the counter and struck the worker with a bar stool on the head, according to authorities. He then picked up a bowling ball and struck the worker, a 28-year-old Roseville man, on the back of the head, police said.

The worker was taken to a hospital.

The first suspect is described as being in his early 20s, 200 pounds with a close-shaved beard and tattoos on his arms, police said. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a black, short-sleeved shirt over a white T-shirt and black jeans, they said.

The second suspect is described as about 20 years old, 170 pounds with braided hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black sweatpants with white stripes on the side. Investigators have identified the suspect but are not releasing his name at this time.
