A Roseville man was arraigned Wednesday for allegedly fleeing police and assaulting two people in Macomb County.

Authorities allege Gary Young assaulted his girlfriend and her teenage daughter on Sunday at his girlfriend's Sterling Heights home, according to a statement from the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

Young also allegedly fled from Sterling Heights police when they arrived to the scene. He sped off when officers tried to pull him over and crashed his car near Gratiot and Interstate 94, according to the release.

The 36-year-old continued fleeing on foot until he was arrested, officials said.

“The actions of the defendant, who allegedly assaulted two women and endangered public safety by fleeing from law enforcement and assaulting officers in the process, will not go unpunished," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in the release.

Young's lawyer, Wright Blake, was not immediately available for comment Thursday.

He was arraigned Wednesday in Sterling Heights' 41-A District Court on five felonies and three misdemeanors, including fleeing a police officer, assaulting a police officer, assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence.

Bond was set at $15,000. His next hearing will be March 7.
