One man was arrested Wednesday after leading Warren police on a car chase that ended with a rollover crash on Detroit's east side, officials said.

Warren police are searching for the man who was a passenger in the SUV.

Officials said the incident began at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday when an officer on patrol on Eight Mile Road near Ryan encountered a 2007 GMC Envoy that had been reported stolen to Warren Police on Tuesday. At the time, two men were inside the Envoy.

Investigators said the officer called and waited for backup patrol units. After they arrived, police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle on Eight Mile near Sherwood Avenue.

The SUV's driver ignored police lights and sirens and sped away heading east on Eight Mile.

Warren police officers deployed devices to deflate the vehicle's tires, but the suspect driver avoided them and continued speeding away, according to authorities.

The Envoy crashed into a Chevrolet Malibu at Eight Mile and Schoenherr roads. Three people were inside the Malibu and all suffered minor injuries, police said.

Officials said the impact with the car caused the Envoy to roll over and catch fire. The SUV's driver and passenger got out of the Envoy and ran.

Warren police officers set up a perimeter and searched the area for the suspects with canine units and drones. Detroit police and firefighters also arrived to help search for the suspects and treat the injured, authorities said.

Officers found and arrested a suspect they believed to be the Envoy's driver hiding in a backyard southeast of the intersection. Authorities found two handguns after searching the suspect vehicle.

However, they were not able to locate the SUV's passenger, police said.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing and detectives will submit their findings to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office to determine charges.
