Man held in Macomb County in stabbing death of pregnant woman

A man was being held in the Macomb County Jail after he allegedly stabbed to death a woman who was seven months pregnant, police said.

Sterling Heights police were called to check on a disturbance at around 3 a.m. Sunday at an apartment complex at 18 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue, said Sgt. Jamie Dubay.

A few hours later, a man was taken into custody at a condominium complex at 16 Mile and Harper Avenue in Clinton Township, where his mother lived. Police said the man and the woman were in a relationship.

The pregnant woman, who was in her 30s, was transported to the hospital, where she and her unborn child died.
