Two of six teens arrested with guns and in a stolen vehicle by Eastpointe police this week were formally charged, officials said.

A Macomb County Juvenile Court referee on Thursday ordered the two, a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old, to be detained, the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office said.

Officials are not releasing the teens' names because they are minors.

Prosecutors said the younger boy was charged with 11 crimes, including receiving and concealing a firearm, a 10-year felony, possessing burglary tools, a 10-year felony, receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle, a five-year felony, fleeing a police officer, a five-year felony, and carrying a concealed weapon, also a five-year felony.

The older boy was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, assaulting a police officer, a two-year felony, using a firearm during a felony, a two-year felony, and altering identification marks on a firearm, a two-year felony.

Hearings for the four other juveniles will held another time, officials said.

All six were arrested after a 1:30 a.m. incident that happened on Wednesday, according to authorities.

Six teens arrested April 3, 2024, were riding in this Hyundai before it crashed as they fled from Eastpointe police officers, officials said. The vehicle had no license plate and a broken rear window.

Police said officers were called to the 15000 block of Charles R Avenue near Nine Mile and Gratiot Avenue for a report of three suspicious males looking into a car parked in a home's driveway.

They arrived and the suspects ran into a silver Hyundai that pulled up and drove away, according to investigators.

Officers spotted the vehicle, which was missing its license plate and had a broken rear window, traveling a block south on North Park Avenue near Grove Avenue.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued to speed away. They chased the car until it crashed near 10 Mile and Saxony Avenue, about two miles away.

After the crash, six people got out and ran, police said. Officers chased them on foot and caught all six, who ranged in age from 14 to 17.

They also found two of the teens had semi-automatic handguns on them. In addition, police recovered marijuana, ski masks, and gloves.

During their investigation, authorities learned the Hyundai had been reported stolen.

"It is deeply concerning when we see young individuals engaging in such reckless and dangerous behavior," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement. "The combination of stolen property, drugs, and firearms poses a serious threat not only to themselves but to the community at large."
