Warren police probe possible 'stranger danger' incident

Police arrested a Warren man who allegedly approached a local high school student this week.

Warren police said the incident happened at about 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Jenny and Shawn drives near Masonic and Bunert roads.

A Cousino High School student was walking home from school in the area when a male in an older Jeep Grand Cherokee approached her, according to a preliminary investigation.

Kevin Regan, 35, allegedly spoke to the girl and tried to persuade her to get into his vehicle, police said.

The girl recorded part of their encounter with her cell phone and when she directed it at Regan, he drove off, police said.

Officials said the man never exited his vehicle or used any physical force with the girl. He also never implied that he had a weapon.

The Warren City Attorney's Office charged Regan on Friday for disturbing the peace and having an improper license plate, both misdemeanor charges with 93 day sentences.

Regan pleaded not guilty, and a judge set his bond at $5,000 to be paid in cash or surety only. He must wear a GPS tether and not contact the victim or any minors if posting bond, police said.
