Lansing — President-elect Donald Trump won Michigan by an even slimmer margin, according to new election results released Wednesday by the Secretary of State’s Office.

In unofficial results updated Wednesday, Trump led Clinton by 10,704 votes, or 2,403 fewer than the original unofficial results available early Nov. 9, hours after polls closed on Election Day, Nov. 8. In other words, Clinton picked up 2,403 votes.

Before Tuesday, the Secretary of State reported that Trump won by a 13,107 unofficial margin.

Tuesday was the deadline for county canvassers to send unofficial ballot counts to the Secretary of State’s Office before the Michigan Board of State Canvassers formally certifies the final ballot counts on Nov. 28.

The results that county canvassers sent to the state Tuesday will be presented to the board of canvassers to certify on Monday, after which results will be official.

Secretary of State spokesman Fred Woodhams said previously it is highly unlikely enough votes would shift to affect the outcome of a Trump victory.

County canvassing boards and clerks have spent the past couple of weeks double-checking their vote totals and making adjustments so they could meet the Tuesday deadline. In many cases, the clerks were adding votes for Trump and Clinton.

“The canvassing and certification process is how the state of Michigan, like the other 49 states, formally determines a winner in the days immediately following each election,” the Secretary of State’s Office wrote in an online post appended to the new results.

The most up-to-date unofficial presidential vote counts for Michigan from the Secretary of State’s Office are as follows:

■Donald J. Trump, Republican: 2,279,543

■Hillary Clinton, Democrat: 2,268,839

■Gary Johnson, Libertarian: 172,136

■Jill Stein, Green: 51,463

■Darrell L. Castle, U.S. Taxpayers: 16,139

■Evan McMullin, write-in: 8,177

■Emidio Mimi Soltysik, Natural Law (socialist candidate): 2,209
