Winter's not done with southeast Michigan yet, it seems.

After warmer-than-normal temperatures and rain on Friday, things are expected to take a turn for the cold over the weekend and bring a chance of snow showers with minor accumulation possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday's forecast calls for cloudy skies and a high in the 50s for Detroit, meteorologists with the agency said. The monthly average high temperature for March in Detroit is 45.9 degrees.

Rain will likely develop later Friday and continue through early Saturday, according to NWS.

Officials estimate the area could see more than an inch of rain.

Despite the high temperature on Saturday reaching the low 50s, it's predicted to drop by nighttime as a low-pressure system leaves the region and ushers in colder air.

A chance of snow showers may come with it and linger into Sunday, the weather service said.

Some minor accumulation is possible with the potential for 1-2 inches of snowfall through Sunday.

"Generally just a dusting of snow expected, with perhaps localized amounts up to 2 inches over theThumb region," the weather service said.

Strong winds out of the northwest are possible Sunday with gusts of 30-40 mph, according to the forecast.

But changes are ahead.

A warm-up will follow, beginning at the start of the work week, the weather service said.

Monday's forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature of 60, followed by the low 60s through most of the week.
