Brighton police arrested a suspect in a January shooting in Eastpointe after a pursuit employing K9 units and drones Saturday.

The suspect was armed with a pistol, but no shots were fired by the suspect or officers during the arrest, and no injuries were reported, Brighton police said in a release Saturday.

At about 1:55 p.m. Saturday, Brighton police tried to stop a motorist with multiple arrest warrants near West Grand River Avenue and Challis Road, police said.

Officers pursued the vehicle but momentarily lost sight of it. At about 2:05 p.m. officers found the vehicle parked off Advance Street but unoccupied, police said.

An officer set up a perimeter and drones and two K9 units searched the area, police said. At about 3:40 p.m., an officer said they were pursuing the suspect on foot and moments later took the suspect into custody.

The suspect was lodged at the Livingston County Jail. No other details were released about the suspect or the Eastpointe shooting.

The Brighton City Police Department was assisted by the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police, Hamburg Township Police Department, Green Oak Township Police Department, and the Novi Police Department.
