One person was killed Saturday after the vehicle he was riding in crashed into the Grand River in Lansing, Michigan State Police said.

Officials rescued two people who were in the vehicle from the water, they said.

Police received a call at about 6:30 p.m. about a vehicle that had gone into the river near Jolly Highway near Williams Road, state police told WILX TV-10 in Lansing on Saturday.

They said troopers arrived and rescued two people from the vehicle immediately, but were working to locate a third person and the car in the river, according to the report.

On Sunday, state police officials said in a post on X that they had recovered the vehicle with a dead person inside.

"A black 2012 Lincoln MKZ was located and recovered from the Grand River with one male passenger inside, deceased," the post said. "The subject has yet to be identified. It appears that the crash was alcohol-related, and the driver is being investigated for Operating While Intoxicated. The investigation is ongoing."
