A 27-year-old man faces 16 counts, including homicide, in the alleged killing Tuesday morning of his 59-year-old father Timothy E. Kildee, the brother of U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee.

Timothy J. Kildee of Mount Morris is charged but not yet arraigned on one count of felony murder, according to a warrant issued Wednesday in his case. He also faces six counts of felony firearm, two counts of armed robbery, carjacking, two concealed carry violations, home invasion, assault and battery, interfering with electronic communications and operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.

Timothy J. Kildee still is being treated at Hurley Medical Center and is expected to be arraigned from the hospital on Thursday morning, officials said.

The charges are spread among three different incidents that conspired in the early hours of Tuesday morning: an alleged altercation with a family member at a home in Burton, the alleged shooting of his father at a home in Mount Morris and a later traffic crash in Genesee Township. The shooting suspect sustained injuries in the vehicle crash after fleeing his father's home, authorities said.

In a statement Tuesday, Congressman Dan Kildee said his family "is grieving and heartbroken."

"There are no words to describe the loss of a beloved brother and family member, especially in such a terrible tragedy," the Flint Township Democrat said. “I thank the community for honoring my family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson said Tuesday that the series of events began shortly before 3 a.m. at a Burton home, when Timothy J. Kildee is alleged to have entered the home and gotten into an altercation with a family member there.

When that family member called police, Timothy J. Kildee left the home on foot, Swanson said Tuesday. Timothy J. Kildee's mother later picked him up and began driving him to his father's home in Mount Morris when her son jumped out of the moving car.

Timothy J. Kildee's mother and father searched for him but were unable to find him, Swanson said. Timothy J. Kildee later entered his father's Mount Morris home where there was an altercation and the alleged shooting.

Timothy J. Kildee left the scene in his father's truck and later crashed into another vehicle at Bray and Stanley roads in Genesee Township, Swanson said. The individual in the other vehicle sustained "serious impairment of a body function," according to the warrant issued Wednesday.

The Burton address is linked to seven counts: home invasion, armed robbery, assault and battery, felony firearm, interfering with electronic communications and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

In relation to the Mount Morris home where Timothy J. Kildee is alleged to have shot his father, then stolen his truck, the 27-year-old is charged with felony murder, armed robbery, carjacking, operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and four counts of felony firearm, according to the Genesee County prosecutor's office.
