Gas prices in Michigan have dropped 7 cents since last week, to an average of $3.57 per gallon for regular unleaded, AAA officials said Monday.

The price is 32 cents more than this time last month and 18 cents more a year ago.

Motorists are paying an average of $53 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline, according to a statement from AAA- The Auto Club Group.

"Oil prices fell after the US Federal Reserve announced it was leaving interest rates unchanged, but it expects three rate cuts by the end of 2024," the release stated.

Gas Buddy analyst Patrick De Haan tweeted Sunday that the national pump price average for March is "slightly higher" than the company anticipated.

"Michigan motorists are seeing slightly lower gas prices across the state," said Adrienne Woodland, AAA's spokesperson, in the release Monday.

Metro Detroit's average gas price is on trend with the state's, at $3.56.

The most expensive gas price averages are in Jackson ($3.68), Ann Arbor ($3.61) and Benton Harbor ($3.59).

The least expensive gas price averages are in Traverse City ($3.42), Flint ($3.47) and Marquette ($3.49).
