Another man pleaded no contest this week in slaying of a Monroe woman found in a former juvenile detention facility last year.

Brin Smith, 21, of Frenchtown Township made the plea to second-degree homicide at the 38th Circuit Court of Monroe on Tuesday, Michigan State Police said in a release.

Smith's attorney, Ben Gonek, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Kayla Sedoskey, 23, was found dead in Frenchtown Township's abandoned Boysville Facility on March 2, 2023.

MSP arrested five other people after a year-long investigation, including Steven Bails, Kaylyn Ramsey, Narena Bails, Sierra Bemis and Alexander Feko.

Kayla Sedoskey, 23, was found in an abandoned Monroe County youth detention center in early March 2023. Steven Bails was convicted Thursday in connection with her murder.

Bemis and Narena Bails pleaded no contest to second-degree homicide; Ramsey is awaiting trail in May for first-degree homicide and conspiracy to commit homicide charges.

Steven Bails was found guilty of first-degree homicide and conspiracy to commit homicide last month.

Feko also pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and three counts of accessory to homicide after the fact, according to the release.

Michigan State Police ask anyone with information on Sedoskey's death to contact detectives at (734) 242-3500.
