A former Flint man pleaded guilty this week to sexually assaulting a minor relative who was living with him between 2002 and 2003, officials announced Tuesday.

Tyrone Anthony Jones, 53, assaulted the girl dozens of times while she resided with him and his wife in Flint, the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office said in a release.

Jones impregnated the girl, who delivered the baby when she was 13 years old, according to the statement.

He moved to Scottsboro, Alabama while the victim and her child relocated to another state, according to the release.

The victim came to Flint police with a formal criminal complaint about the assaults in September 2022.

“The wheels of justice may turn slowly but they never stop turning and today, justice was served with the conviction of Tyrone Anthony Jones,” Prosecutor David Leyton said in the release. "I want to credit the survivor of these appalling sexual assaults for showing tremendous strength and courage for coming forward to make sure that Jones was held accountable for his unforgivable acts."

Jones pleaded guilty Tuesday to 31 counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree. There is no statute of limitation for first degree criminal sexual conduct in Michigan.

His sentencing is scheduled for May 6 through the 67th District Court of Genesee County.

Jones' attorney, Michael Ewing, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
