Another defendant has pleaded to a second-degree homicide charge in a Monroe woman's slaying last year in an abandoned juvenile detention facility, Michigan State Police announced Tuesday.

Kaylyn Ramsey, 33, pled no contest on Monday at the 38th Circuit Court in connection with the Kayla Sedoskey case, MSP said in a release.

Ramsey was scheduled to stand trial next month but opted to enter the no contest plea instead, authorities said Tuesday.

Officials found the 23-year-old's body in the former Frenchtown Township Boysville Facility on March 2, 2023.

Kayla Sedoskey, 23, was found in an abandoned Monroe County youth detention center in early March 2023.

Investigators found Sedoskey was an ex-girlfriend of Steven Bails, one of six suspects in total, who was convicted last month in connection to her death, state police said.

After multiple disagreements, Bails and five other people planned to kill Sedoskey by catfishing the victim and driving her to the facility where he, Ramsey and another defendant were waiting for her, according to the release.

Sedoskey was shot three times with a suspected .22 caliber handgun inside the facility, while another defendant, Narena Bails, listened to a police scanner to warn the defendants if police arrived, MSP reported.

Ramsey, Steven Bails, and other defendants returned to Boysville the next day to hide Sedoskey's body and use fragrances to hide the smell of decay, according to the release.

Ramsey's plea comes after another defendant pleaded no contest in early April.

The Wakeman, Ohio, resident faces a minimum sentence of 40 years in prison for her role in the murder, according to the release.

Reached Tuesday, Ramsey's attorney, Jessica Paladino, declined to offer further comment on the matter.
