Authorities are searching for a missing kayaker in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

A search for the 25-year-old male kayaker started in Rapid River after he was reported overdue, officials with the U.S. Coast Guard's 9th District said in a post on X.

Rapid River is on the northern tip of Lake Michigan's Little Bay de Noc and about 6.5 miles north of Gladstone.

Members of the Coast Guard's stations in Sturgeon Bay in Wisconsin, Air Station Traverse City and deputies with the Delta County Sheriff's Office are conducting the search.

Officials said the man's green and blue kayak was found overturned Sunday night after they pinged his cellphone.
